Opportunity Calling: Get to Know Our Committees!
Begin this new year by joining a Newcomers committee! At this event, you will hear about each of the committees and have the opportunity to join and/or lead one. It will be a fun time to see other Newcomers, hear about events in the planning stage, and select one or more committees that will help you get the most out of this Club.
Joining a committee is, first and foremost, a great way to meet other people. The Santa Barbara Newcomers Club offers a range of committees that plan all the activities our members enjoy. By joining a committee, you have an opportunity to work with others with similar interests to organize these events. The learning curve for doing committee work is not steep, and the workload is modest.
As with any volunteer opportunity, having many hands “on deck” makes for a lighter load for everyone involved. Serving on a committee involves communication via phone or Zoom or FaceTime about once a month to plan activities, coming up with ideas for events, deciding upon the logistics (e.g., when, who, etc.), filling out the event-description template, and sending the announcement off to the VP of Activities for posting.
And there's more! We will have door prizes -- think future restaurant dinners -- for those who attend. Bring your beverage of choice, set out the appetizers, and join us for a fun evening and an opportunity to get involved in Newcomers!
This presentation will be offered free on Zoom, a video conferencing program available to watch on computers, tablets, and smartphones.
