FREE MOVIE NIGHT FEATURING MOANA (PG)

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, pop corn, snacks, wine or whatever.  We'll gather as a group (pajamas optional) and enjoy the family friendly movie.  A true throw back Thursday.

This movie is NOT posted on the West Wind Drive In website.

    A Truly American Phenomenon

The drive-in theatre experience first came to light on June 6, 1933. That was the day Mr. Richard Hollingshead, opened the first drive-in theater in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey. A few others quickly followed but the trend only truly took off with the advent of in-car speakers in the 1940s.Families still flock to our drive-ins for great entertainment at an incredible value. But when you come to a West Wind Drive-In you’ll experience more than just a great movie.  You’ll experience the drive-in – a unique and historic slice of Americana.

    About West Wind
West Wind has been family owned and operated from day one.  We opened our first drive-in theatre in 1952 and today we own and operate the largest drive-in theatre chain in the world with four in California, one in Arizona and two in Nevada. In fact, we have recently reopened two drive-ins that had been shuttered for years: Solano Drive-In in Concord, California and the Santa Barbara Drive-In in Goleta, California. The atmosphere at West Wind is best described as relaxed family fun with a mix of old-school drive-in vibe combined with the latest technology. Toss a Frisbee or football around before the show or bring the wee ones to our play structure near the snack bar before you settle back for a one of a kind movie presentation. - See more at: http://www.westwinddi.com/about-us#sthash.Xf636WtB.dpuf

Join us under the stars at El Capitan Canyon for a casual picnic accompanied by a high-energy cover band!  Just 20 minutes from downtown, El Capitan campground offers rustic beauty, cool ocean breezes and a summer concert series featuring Live Wire (a Bay Area band showcasing an eclectic mix of party favorites, including current hits and the best songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's.)  Dance your heart out or just enjoy good conversation at the rear tables we secure for our group.

Newcomer registration is FREE, but you will need $10 cash (no credit cards) per person at the gate.

Gates open at 5:00 PM and music begins at 7:00 PM (join us whenever you like but note that park policies prohibit arrivals before 5:00 PM).  For the potluck picnic, please bring an appetizer or side dish to share, plus your own main dish, favorite beverage and cups/utensils (BBQ may be purchased on site for $20, if you're so inclined). You may also wish to bring a small beach chair or blanket.  Sorry, no pets are allowed.

Take Highway 101 North to Exit 117 ( El Capitan State Beach).  Continue straight on Calle Real (frontage road) and look for the main entrance to El Capitan Canyon on the right.  Consider a carpool and designated driver if you plan to bring wine or beer.

Note that bands are subject to change without notice, but here's a video link to put you in the mood:

This month's restaurant selection for out to lunch is Scarlet Begonia. It's in the courtyard area where SoHo is located - on the corner of Anacapa and Victoria.  Eating lunch near the fountain makes you feel as if you are somewhere in Italy. While the food is not Italian, it is all non-processed, farm fresh, and delicious food.  We hope you can join us on Thursday, May 11 at noon.  Cheers!

Please plan to pay with cash. Our server will appreciate you even more!
