Here's how Sip, Sup & Say Hello! works!

Enjoy a casual potluck dinner party in a private home with your fellow Newcomers. Join in as eitherHost orGuest. (The Committee especially welcomes new Host homes.)

We've added a vegetarian house!  Come join us!

  • Hosts... offer their home as the setting for our meal, and they  coordinate with their guests to create the experience the group wants to have.  It can be as basic as setting a theme (or not), assigning dishes (or not) or going more formal with a sit down dinner (or not - paper plates are ok!). Formal sit down dinner seating is not necessary, but certainly ok!  Hosts homes can hold from 6 to 14 guests!  Host gets to decide on the number of guests.  Optional contribution to meal by the host is up to host.  Host provides tableware, glasses and water.
  • Guests... bring an assigned dish as coordinated with their host (e.g., appetizer, entree, side, or dessert) and their own beverages of choice.

If you’d like to be a Guest for this Sip, Sup and Say Hello! event, please register ASAP (and read the Cancellation Policy, below)!

Once registered, the Committee will email you two weeks before the event telling you: Host's name & address, and the Host will reach out to the assigned group to coordinate the evening!

If you'd like to be a futureHost, or have questions, please contact Renee Martin at Rkaymartin@gmail.com

    Bon Appetit!

CANCELLATION POLICY: By registering for this event, you are agreeing to attend the event and to bring the dish (appetizer, entree, side, or dessert) that is assigned to you by your host.  Should you cancel after receiving your assignment, you agree to either provide a replacement Newcomer Guest or deliver your assigned dish to your Host’s home on the day of the event.  Hint: if you have scheduling pressures, consider using SBMenus.com.  For a small fee (about $5) they will deliver an item you purchase from one of many SB restaurants directly to your Host’s home on the day of the event.

    Wine Country Tour
    EVERYONE WELCOME!

    Saturday, April 1  |  9:30am

We rented a 15 passenger van, and we are headed to the Santa Ynez wine country! We will meet at a central location in Santa Barbara.  We then will head to our first winery Andrew Murray Vineyards with a tour of the facilities plus wine tasting.  Passionately focused on Rhône varieties, Andrew Murray has consistently crafted highly acclaimed red wines and white wines in the Santa Ynez Valley for 20 years.
We will then have a picnic lunch at Roblar winery from Panino. Nestled in an oak tree-studded 40-acre vineyard located in the heart of Santa Barbara County, Roblar Winery and Vineyards reflects the spirit of Santa Ynez Valley - rustic, authentic, and bold. Our third and final stop will be Vincent Vineyards. A dedicated boutique producer of the finest handcrafted French Cabernet varietals, Vincent Vineyards carefully cultivates some of the highest quality grapes. We then will bring you safely back to Santa Barbara.  $80 cost includes transportation, lunch, and wine tastings at 3 vineyards.

Newcomers is adding another new venue to the tour as we visit Santa Barbara Wine Collective this week.

Santa Barbara Wine Collective is a group of like-minded producers who focus on the unique terroir of Santa Barbara County. It is both a neighborhood hangout for locals and an uncommon experience for visitors who are interested in tasting a wide range of local wines produced here in Santa Barbara County. They are the county’s first and only communal tasting room that represents five wineries and winemakers under one roof. Each winery offers a selection of different varietals but all work to produce wines of elegance and balance while representing a sense of place. Their goal is to showcase these award-winning winemakers that produce similar varietals in different areas of our county and how the unique microclimates and terroir in Santa Barbara County impact these wines.

Their mission is to create a memorable wine tasting experience for their guests with outstanding service by people who are warm, knowledgeable, confident, and committed. Even more important than what their guests see and drink is how they feel while they are with them.

Helena Avenue Bakery, next door, will be open to 6:00pm, offering cheese and charcuterie, sandwiches and salads for purchase.

See you on the 23rd!Click Here for Directions
